1. Introduction

DocuSign is a popular application among our customers for sending and signing documents. In the main, these tend to be agreements or contracts which require more than one individual to sign.

However, others use it to send multiple documents at the same time to one recipient for their signature.

To ensure seamless integration with DocuSign, we have developed a dedicated Authentication object in Catalyst. This allows the safe and secure storage of your DocuSign account credentials for use in automated document workflow.

The Authentication object ensures that the Catalyst system is always authenticated to access the DocuSign account. It does this by generating new access tokens before the previous ones expire.

In practical terms, this means that you can store a document template against an Object class and, at the appropriate point in your workflow sequence, generate the document for a record, create the DocuSign envelope, and send the document.

DocuSign will then ensure that the document is sent to the specified recipients, allowing them to sign in the order you have configured. Finally, Catalyst can be used to retrieve and store the fully signed document.

Because manual intervention is not required during this process, it will save time and effort, as well as providing documents of a high quality in terms of both format and data accuracy.
