Editing User group Permissions
A User group has three default permission sets: Owners, Everyone and Members. Custom permission sets can be added so that a User group can have up to a total of 10 permission sets.
Please see User Group Permissions for an overview.
Who can edit User group Permissions?
The following users can edit User group Permissions:
- Users with a Super admin account - have unlimited access, full owner/member management and permission setting/management across all users in the system
- User group Owners with a Config Admin account (note a Role is not required)
- Can access and edit the User group: Have a main navigation menu option for the User group and can edit it
- Can manage permission sets: Are able to create new permission sets, edit existing permission sets (other than for Owners)
- Can manage assignees: Note: they will only have access to the users in User groups they are an Owner of unless they have been granted the "View Users" permission via API
- Can delete custom permission sets
- Can delete the User group
- User group Owners with an Internal account type do not not have the menu option for the User group. However, they can access it with a URL such as this: https://catalyst-domain-url/administration/user-groups/89 (89 is the User group ID). With the correct URL, they have the same permissions as a User group Owner with a Config Admin account
Editing User group permission sets
Each permission set has a kebab menu alongside its name.

To edit permissions
| Click this and select Edit | |
| This will allow you to change the permissions: View - gives the User visibility of the User group (Membership and Permissions) Edit - allows the User to change the Name, Description, Membership and Permissions Delete - allows the User to delete the User group Having made the required change, click the tick; a green toast message will confirm the update. The updated permissions are immediately granted. |
To remove Users or User groups
| Click the kebab menu and select Manage assignees. The Manage assignees tab will open. This has two sub tabs: Users and User groups. The number of each already in the permission set is shown. To remove a User or User group, click the X on the right hand side of their tile. | |
| A model will appear allowing you to confirm or cancel the action. Clicking, "Yes, unassign" will remove the User or User group tile. The number of Users or User groups will reduce accordingly. Close the Manage assignees tab. |
What happens when a User or User group is removed from a Permission set?
The User or Users will immediately lose the permissions. They do not have to log out/in but sometimes a page refresh is needed to see this take effect.
If the User or Users have not been granted the View Users permission, they will also lose access to the details of the group members.
